HealthMind’s clinical supervision service is designed specifically for practicing counselling therapists seeking to enhance their professional skills and understanding. I approach counselling with a deeply client-centred perspective, valuing each person’s unique journey. In this collaborative process, you hold the reins in setting the goals, boundaries, and direction of our sessions together. I firmly believe that our life challenges are woven through our experiences in relationships, diverse situations, and various institutions, shaping both adaptive and maladaptive aspects of our being.

As a counsellor, I aim to create a safe and trusting space where you can explore, grow, heal, and embrace positive transformations. I am committed to assisting you in cultivating a more compassionate and deep connection with yourself and your relationships with others. I believe each individual has inherent strength and resilience, but sometimes, we get stuck. My role is to provide support as you reconnect with those inner resources and find your way back to where you want to be.

I consider it a privilege to be entrusted with my client’s stories. I am grateful to walk alongside you in your healing, witness your growth and wound mending, and help you rediscover your most authentic self.

My background is in engineering, a profession I chose because I wanted to contribute positively to the world, and I happened to be good at math and science. I appreciate my engineering experience and all the technical skills I have developed. However, the work had always been too disconnected from those I hoped to help. This realization prompted me to embark on the journey to become a professional counsellor and pursue a Master of Counselling. Initially, I focused on supporting individuals navigating grief, traumatic loss, suicidal ideation, mental illness and mentorship. Over time, I have accumulated experience on a variety of issues, including life transitions, anxiety and depression, trauma, and relationships.

I look forward to connecting with you.

Hello, I am Daniel – a Graduate Counselling Intern at HealthMind Clinic currently completing my Master of Counselling at City University.

I aim to help people overcome barriers and reach their goals. I work through an inclusive, client-centred, integrative approach using different techniques while prioritizing collaboration with clients. These techniques can include elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and more. To me, the client is always the expert of their own experiences, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you as we move towards the goals you have for therapy. I welcome clients with various goals, whether that be navigating anxiety, depression, grief, stress, life transitions, trauma, or other factors.

I have always prioritized collaboration, and I am excited about how this applies as a counsellor. I come from a theatre and comedy performance background, and for over a decade I have worked with teens through improvised theatre. This is how I developed my commitment to active listening, storytelling, and play. I was then a shelter support and crisis intervention worker during the pandemic. Through this, I became increasingly interested in how these elements can be applied to building relationships and connections in therapeutic work.

Having grown up in Burnaby, I feel very connected to the Lower Mainland and many of the communities that are a part of it. I also come from an immigrant family and am familiar with many of the difficulties that come with being a newcomer. I love this city, but I know it can be a hard place to get comfortable, and I am excited to work with folks from diverse backgrounds and experiences in helping them overcome some of the challenges they face.

Most of all, I am excited to connect with people and learn more about your unique journeys. Being entrusted with your innermost thoughts is not something I take lightly, and I will work hard to provide support that is right for you.

Hello, my name is Eileen! I am an intern counsellor at the HealthMind Clinic, currently completing my Master of Counselling at City University. I believe every individual holds a unique story and the innate ability to grow and heal. I view counselling as a collaborative journey, where I meet you exactly where you are, walking alongside you and seeing the world through your lens. Above all, I’m here to get to know and honour the raw, authentic, and deserving person that you are.

With many years of experience in the education field, I have worked closely with neurodivergent children and adolescents with learning disabilities. This role has been deeply fulfilling and has highlighted the significant impact of mental health on students’ lives, inspiring me to pursue a career in counselling to support a broader range of individuals.

As a counsellor, my goal is to foster a safe and genuine therapeutic relationship where we can explore life’s challenges together. I strive to understand how your unique life experiences, cultural context, and upbringing shape your story. I am committed to fostering an environment where you feel seen, valued, and empowered on your journey towards fulfilling your goals. I am especially drawn to working with individuals navigating challenges related to anxiety, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, and self-esteem. As a Taiwanese Canadian, I am fluent in English and Mandarin and am familiar with the cross-cultural challenges often experienced by individuals and families with a Chinese background. My integrative, person-centered approach incorporates Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I look forward to hearing your story and supporting you on your journey!
